Situated in Los Padres National Forest, 90 minutes north of L.A., this weekend retreat may commonly see at least two feet (0.6 meters) of winter snow. To take the full advantage of the spring and summer temperatures, the architects installed glass garage doors that can be fully opened. The house is designed with the living areas on the upper level for full views of mountains and valley. Decks emerge from either side of the living room, adding further emphasis to the seamless space.
