Modern Minimalist Masterpiece, 1972

9 Chemin Châtelard de Brent, Montreux-Brent, SUI, 1817

Brent is a Lavaux wine-making village going back to Roman times, located in the hills above Montreux, the Swiss Riviera along Lake Geneva. It is here that pediatrician Dr. J. Mantanus built this USM-Haller minimalist masterpiece in one of the terraced vineyards the region is known for. Below the main house surrounded by vines is a heated studio of about 260 square feet. There is also an over 200-year-old cabin now used as a reading lounge and art studio. The entire property is about 2,500 square yards, including about 900 square yards of Chasselas grapes, yielding 166 cases of AOC quality white wine. The vineyard is terraced for entertainment and leisure in various indoor and outdoor spaces. The house is located in a rare private nature setting, with unspoiled view of the Mont Blanc Range to the South, the entire length of Lake Geneva to the West, adjoining a natural forest to the North and East. The municipalities of Montreux and Vevey are minutes away, Lausanne is reached in 25 minutes, and the international airport in Geneva is reached in 60 minutes.
