Inspired by Bernard Maybeck’s principles of hillside building in harmony with Nature, Fisher’s team employed mahogany, copper, textured materials and color to create a new modern idiom. The design shelters all under a great swoop of roof, with huge copper-sheathed eaves that deflect both winter rains and summer sun. Careful planning provides open Pacific views throughout that dazzle the eye. Inside, a double-height great hall for living and dining dominates, its custom-crafted windows positioned to offer painterly landscapes. A mezzanine office/study caps the open, custom kitchen with walk-in pantry. On a double-lot pad high above the street, with all rooms open to terraced gardens, patio, porch or an upper-story balcony. Completing the program are three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a three-car garage. Includes La Costa beach club membership.
