This beautifully restored, 1836 Greek Revival house, where famed editor and publishing legend Maxwell Perkins read and edited the manuscripts of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe, Ernest Hemingway, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is on the National Register of Historic Places. A generous garden, which offers a contemporary landscape with a geometric plan inspired in part by Le Notre, is included in the Smithsonian’s Archives for American Gardens. Though the house and garden offer privacy, the location is 88 steps from the New Canaan train station (as Perkins used to say) with its rush-hour through trains to Grand Central Station.
