Mediterranean Villa, 1955

Marseille 13007 France

This sumptuous Mediterranean villa was built in 1955 by architect René Egger and offers a spectacular view on the harbor of Marseille all the way to the rocky inlets. In the south of Marseille (7e arrondissement), the two-story residence overlooks the beaches and is located inside a fully secured private park on the side of a hill. The upper level accommodates the large living room with patio overlooking the garden and the panoramic sunny sea view terraces, a large dining room with a loggia, a kitchen with pantry and a suite with bedroom and bathroom. The lower level contains beautiful wooden stairs and includes five bedrooms, a lounge and a dressing room. The villa also includes an independent 50 m² studio, composed of a living room and bedroom, both opening to a terrace with access to the garden. A garage and parking lot complete the property. In the shade of local pine trees, the house is located in a 3,200 m² plot planted with Mediterranean and exotic varieties, on the gorgeous site of the ancient Château Talabot. The garden contains an ovoid swimming pool with wooden terraces and a tennis court. Inspired by traditional Mediterranean architecture, the villa was built using stone and tropical woods. The eastern and northern façcades are mostly closed to protect the inhabitants from dominant winds. The southern and western side are, in contrast, generously open towards the sea.
