La Maison

Paris, FR,

This contemporary family house was built in 2003 by the agency XY Architecture. In a quiet street of the 14th arrondissement, it extends over a surface of 220 m² with a 80 m² fitted out basement and 100 m² of outdoor patios including a terraced roof. The 7 levels are served by a glass elevator. The 1st floor accomodates a vast living room with 5,70 m of height under ceiling, accentuated by a 50 m² vertical garden realised by the botanist Patrick Blanc, famous for inventing the concept of green walls and for realising the green wall of the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris. The living room is extended by the kitchen that opens on a patio and a small greenhouse. On the second floor, a study opens on the living-room space. The bedrooms are located on the upper levels. The third floor receives three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the fourth floor welcomes the parental suite with a bathroom and a dressing room as well as a guest room with its bathroom. The house also includes a fitness room, a second study, a cellar and a laundry room as well as a double garage. The street façade is inspired by the local artist’s workshops and replicates their signature glass wall. The interior volumes are designed according to each room’s function : a generous double height for the living room and more intimate spaces for the bedrooms.
